The brains running the business for “Empire” are taking the brand in a new direction this fall.
Don’t worry, the new season is expected to pick up where the first one left off. Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) will start in a jail cell while Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will get a new lover during the show.
Plot aside, the 17 million fans that made “Empire” # 1 on TV can now look like they just stepped off the set of the TV show.
The creators of “Empire” have a new fashion line that debuted in Saks Fifth Avenue yesterday (September 12).
The “Empire” line was created by Saks with help from Jimmy Choo, Cushnie et Ochs Alexis Bittar, and MCM.
The partnership will emphasize fine jewelry from Alexis Bittar, women’s ready-to-wear from Cushnie et Ochs, men’s and women’s footwear from Jimmy Choo and pocketbooks and accessories from MCM.
“The influence Empire has had on so many aspects of popular culture proves it has the ingredients to become a stand-alone fashion brand,” said Jeffrey Godsick, President, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products.
The pieces from the lines are worn by various cast members during season 2 of “Empire.” The clothes that the characters wear during the series will make statements about their personalities. For instance, Andre Lyons (played by Trai Byers) will wear fewer suits this season, in favor of lighter, more vibrant fabrics and colors.
Who will end up with control of Lucious Lyons empire? Cookie? Her sister (being played by Vivica A. Fox), Hakeem or his brother Jamal?
You do not have to wait on “Empire’s” premiere on September 23 to look like the stars on the show. The new fashion collection is available in-store, online and at Sak’s locations in New York and Beverly Hills.
