White Student Unions Driven By Fear…If They Are Real…

Are white students really losing out on educational opportunities because of their race?

Arguments over racial policies and practices at American universities continue to rage, from campuses all the way up to the Supreme Court.

The latest legal battle centers around the case of a white student named Abigail Fisher, who is challenging the validity of affirmative action.
She is a student who was denied admission to the University of Texas at Austin. She claims the admissions process was unconstitutional because it impermissibly favored black and Latino students’ race as a factor.
A ruling on the Fisher case is not due until June, and even then a decision may not be reached conclusively because the case could be sent back to a lower court for more debate.
The lightning rod issues like affirmative action, as well as the protests staged by groups like Black Lives Matter, have some white students feeling threatened.

Rutgers White Student Union
Is this real or a hoax?

So much so, that “White Student Unions” associated with almost 30 Universities have popped up on Facebook. There’s over 30 of these “White Student Unions” informally representing institutions like Towson in Baltimore, The University of Illinois, Rutgers, LSU, Penn State and others.
The pages (other than Towson’s, which is real) were supposedly created under a banner of unity as a response to the BLM movement and to discuss issues that are relevant to them on their respective campuses.
“With acts of international terrorism on the rise, it is possible that these pages are a direct result of xenophobia; white students are trying to keep a sense of their own ethnic identity,” said Megan Monges of The UCS Guardian. “However, the issue can most likely be attributed to long-standing cultural and societal norms within the U.S. Inequality between races is a facet of U.S. history, and although tension and discrimination has arguably improved in recent years, it is still prevalent. Minority students are still underrepresented in all areas.”
The verdict is out on if these Facebook pages are even real and created by students or if it is a well-planned publicity stunt since, many of the groups and posts share similar qualities.

“Many of these groups went live within hours of each other on November 20. These pages use the same phrases in their group descriptions, sometimes use J.C. Leyendecker paintings as cover photos for some reason, and post many of the same links (for instance, many pages posted this comic)” – Peter Slattery, of NYU’s student-run blog.

Justice Scalia
African-Americans can’t hang in today’s learning institutions according to Justice Antonin Scalia.

According to Slattery, the entire “White Student Union” movement is a hoax created by trolls called #OperationEuropa to create friction with the Black Lives Matter movement.
What isn’t a hoax is Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s controversial statements about African-Americans, which could offer some insight into the way a ruling could go in June.
Talk about race and unions, well these views could have serious implications for African-Americans regarding the admissions process for decades and it is coming from the top.

“It does not benefit African-Americans to get them into the University of Texas where they do not do well, as opposed to having them go to a less-advanced school, a slower-track school where they do well” – Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

Justice Scalia claimed that “most of the black scientists in this country do not come from the most advanced schools.” “They come from lesser schools where they do not feel that they’re being pushed ahead in classes that are too fast for them.”

Abigail Fisher is proud of her part in helping to revamp affirmative action, which she claims is hurting white students.

“Like most Americans, I don’t believe students should be treated differently because of their race. Hopefully, this case will end racial classifications and preferences at the Univ. of Texas,” said Abigail Fisher.
