The worldwide reaction to the death of Cecil the lion reached a tipping point this week.
By now you have surely heard the tail of Cecil, who was shot and killed by American dentist Walter Palmer in Zimbabwe. Palmer and two Zimbabwean men stand accused of lowering the lion off of Hwange Park and shooting him with a compound bow.

The men then tracked the celebrated Lion for 40 hours before shooting and killing him with a rifle. Since then, Cecil’s brutal killing has been condemned around the world, by animal activists, politicians, and celebrities.
Two men have been charged with Cecil’s death, and Zimbabwe is making plans to extradite Walter Palmer.
Cecil has become larger than life since his death. Also, he has been communicating from the other side.
Animal communicator Karen Anderson claims she connected with Cecil after he was shot and killed. According to Anderson, Cecil delivered a heartfelt message and revealed that he is just fine in the afterlife.
“Let not the actions of these few men defeat us or allow darkness to enter our hearts,” Cecil said. “If we do then we become one of them. Raise your vibration and allow this energy to move us forward.”
“What happened does not need to be discussed as it is what it is. Take heart my child, I am finer than ever, grander than before as no one can take our purity, our truth or our soul. Ever. I am here. Be strong and speak for all the others who suffer needlessly to satisfy human greed. Bring Light and Love and we will rise above this,” Cecil the Lion said from beyond the grave.
Although he was a major attraction at Hwange National Park before he was killed, now Cecil is being immortalized in death. A bronze statue in honor of the lion has been proposed by a conservationist group, who will erect the statue at the gates of the park.
Donations are beginning to come in for the project, which would honor the rare 13-year-old black maimed lion.
Even Lion Lager brew in Zimbabwe has gotten in on the act, placing ads in local newspapers mourning the Lions tragic death.
There is more good news. Representatives for Oxford University’s lion research project said Cecil’s brother Jericho has taken over the fatherly duties for Cecil’s seven clubs he left behind.
Oxford University was studying Cecil the Lion before he was shot and killed. According to Brent Staplecamp of Oxford University, Cecil’s brother Jericho has been mourning the loss of his brother.
“I think he has now come to terms with the fact that Cecil is no longer coming back,” said Staplecamp. “During the first days, at night he used to make these strong deep contact calls trying to reach out to Cecil.”
There is some good to come from Cecil’s death. For now, his brother Jericho is the new king of the jungle – until he meets another Walter Palmer.
