Protests erupt over David Duke visit to an HBCU in New Orleans

David Duke finally made his appearance at Dillard University and it didn’t go well, as one would expect when the former grand wizard of the KKK makes a visit to a historically black college.

The USA Today reports:

More than 50 people gathered outside an auditorium at Dillard University to protest David Duke’s appearance in the final televised debate for Louisiana’s senatorial race.
Duke, a former grand wizard of the KKK and a known white supremacist who supports Donald Trump for president, is running for the state’s vacant seat in the United States Senate and qualified for the debate after polling at around 5% of the vote.
Raycom Media, which organized the debate, prevented all students and members of the media from entering the auditorium per pre-established rules, according to the Daily Mail.
When protesters tried to push past law enforcement — which had created a human wall — to get into the building, police used pepper spray to keep them back.

Several videos were posted to social media depicting the struggle, with law enforcement pulling students back while they struggle to push through the glass door into the auditorium. The Associated Press estimates 60-70 people were present.
