The new NBA 2K18 cover art features none other than Shaquille O’Neal.
The storied video game franchise chose to roll with the NBA veteran and Hall of Famer in the new “Legends” edition of the classic basketball game.
The announcement of Shaq as the cover athlete was delivered via a comedic mock press conference featuring a humorous exchange between Kobe Bryant and Shaq Fu.
In a hilarious, unexpected twist, the teleprompter being used for the bit was being controlled by Shaq’s former teammate/nemesis Kobe Bryant.
“I would really like to thank Kobe Bryant as he was a NBA 2K cover athlete first and has a really nice natural smile,” a bewildered Shaq exclaimed after thanking his parents and coaches.
After a close-up of Kobe’s pearly whites, Shaq can be heard saying “I don’t be looking at his teeth…This thing ain’t over Kobe, payback’s gonna be fun.”
Many believe the friendly resurrection of their feud will be a running theme to promote the latest edition of NBA 2K18.
The game is available for pre-order now and hits stores this September.
