Check out the reviews of the latest singles you need to listen to this week.
DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller “Wild Thoughts”
DJ Khaled dropped the third single from his highly anticipated album, Grateful. For the first time, we hear Rihanna and Bryson Tiller together and we are hoping this leads to more collaborations between the two. Rihanna’s soothing Caribbean voice and Bryson’s smooth “trap soul” vibe mesh together on this Santana “Maria, Maria” sampled track that is sure to be DJ Khaled’s next number one single. They also released the video for “Wild Thoughts” on the same day the song debuted.
Steve Aoki featuring Lil Yachy & Migos “Night Call”
Steve Aoki drafts Lil Yachty and Migos for this ATL trap single for his upcoming album, Kolony. They first debuted this song at a music festival in Austin last month. This is the first time we’ve heard Aoki with these rappers, but Lil Yachty and Migos have collaborated before and judging from their pictures on Instagram I don’t think this will be a last. In this single, they talk about what happens after the “night calls”.
Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey “Glorious”
We haven’t anything from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis lately, however, Macklemore has resurfaced with a single from his upcoming solo album, the name has yet to be revealed. To shut the down the rumors that there was a fall out, Macklemore asserts “Ryan Lewis is my brother forever” and “I’m the best man at his wedding next month.” We usually hear Macklemore questioning things, however, in this album, he will be more reflective on his life. In this motivational single, “Glorious”, he celebrates his success and talks about how far he has come and Skylar Grey sings the chorus acting as his inner voice, emphasizing how glorious he feels.
Majid Jordan featuring PartyNextDoor “One I Want”
OVO’s Majid Jordan and PartyNextDoor team up to create this bedtime banger. They are singing about a girl that was down with them when they had no money and even though they are rich now, they still want her. Some are speculating this song is the follow up to Majid’s “Phases,” which was released April 2017 where he talks about his experiences and how he “keeps” and “stays going through changes.”
Action Bronson “Let Me Breathe”
After not hearing much from Action Bronson since his 2015 album, “Mr. Wonderful”, he has dropped the first single from his upcoming album, Blue Chips 7000, which is “hopefully” coming out on June 23, according to XXL Magazine, even though he’s been sitting on this new album since March. I hope not because DJ Khaled “Grateful” is premiering on that date. This single is simple, he’s tired of being pulled in different directions and wants people to “just chill out, shut the fuck up, and let me breathe!”
