Rapper Dee-1 & Sallie Mae Host 5K Race To Help Fund College Scholarships

Educator-turned-hip-hop-artist Dee-1, employees from Sallie Mae and the local community will lace up for the second annual Sallie Mae 5K this weekend.
Dee-1, the artist behind the viral hit “Sallie Mae Back,” will officially kick off the race.
Dee-1 has toured high schools with Sallie Mae to promote college planning and financial responsibility.
Sallie Mae’s “Bridging the Dream Scholarship” program asks high school counselors from across the country to nominate students who have overcome obstacles and exemplify excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

In the past two years, Sallie Mae has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students through the “Bridging the Dream Scholarship.”
The Sallie Mae 5K is an employee-driven fundraiser in support of the company’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program.
The race is open to the public and will be held at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.
The second annual Sallie Mae 5K run takes place on Sunday, June 3, at 8:30 a.m.
